Join us for a night of energetic acoustic music as we welcome TRAGWAG (That Really Awesome Guy With A Guitar), a banjo/guitar duo from Massachusetts on their Spring Break tour.

Some say: "TRAGWAG calls forth the sound of their influences through acoustic filters. The 1-2 of hardcore bands like Minor Threat and other angst-swelled American punk, and rowdy, catchy rock. It suddenly becomes lo-fi jangle without forgetting its roots." Think catchy male/female harmonies singing earnest, wistful reflections on love and stuff over a lively upbeat strummed chords and tinkling banjo alongside.

Join us at the Internationalist for a night of passionate acoustic ballads from Jessie Williams and William Blackart!

Jessie Williams hails from Oakland, California, strumming earnest, politically articulate folk and country tunes. Jessie's ballads, following in the footsteps of Bob Dylan, spin stories of ramblers and ne'er-do-wells struggling to light a flame of inspiration amidst the alienation of modern life. Join Internationalist Books as we table at SOHIPOTOME, a weekend of radio/honors/concert events recognizing and honoring women in and of the culture of Hip Hop. The 2nd Annual SOHIPOTOME event takes place March 11-13, 2010, with a radio special via WXYC on the evening of the 11th and events during the day and the evening at the Durham Arts Council. You'll find us on Saturday, March 13th from 8 PM to midnight, tabling with a variety of books and merchandise relating to feminism and women's issues, African-American studies, hip hop and music, and more.

Some folks in the music scene can get nostalgic from time and time and reminisce of the, "good old days" when rock was political, when it, "meant something." Cipher is one of those bands that bring back nostalgia far more vivid than the memories of the apple pies grandma used to make. For some it's nostalgia for a place inside themselves where their hearts burned for what seemed for a minute to be tangible revolutionary social change in our lifetimes.

DON'T MISS the cutest, most finger-snapping show of the season, as touring troublemaking troubadours Dane Terry and Jordan O'Jordan join local marvel Gary for a night of melodious plucking, plinking, strumming and humming!

Join us for a night of improvisation and experimental acoustic music led by local Josh Zaslow!

Featuring new Internationalist volunteer Will Dawson on vocals and bass, Alcazar Hotel brings a hard-driving, fun loving rock'n'roll sound with punk, surf, and rockabilly influences. They'll be playing an unplugged acoustic set to celebrate the release of their brand new debut album. The fully amplified CD release show will be later on that night at Reservoir in Carrboro at 10 PM.
