Come Join the One Big Union, a group that works both to win gains now and toward abolishing capitalism and replacing it with freedom and equality in all of life. Come meet us this Thursday as we kick off a campaign against Jimmy John's who refuse to meet with frustrated and exploited workers. We will also discuss other local organizing as well.

We are a volunteer network of working people and students who defend our rights through collective action. Everyone who wants to learn more or if you are interested in finding ways to collectively fight back and win, should come to this meeting. Feel free to bring food if you want, it is a potluck.

Think Outside the Bomb National Tour

Think Outside the Bomb is the nation's largest youth-led nuclear abolitionist network, and they're going to be coming to Chapel Hill to your favorite independent radical bookstore, Internationalist Books! This year they are engaging in a campaign called Disarmament Summer, which includes a presence at the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review in May, a three month national tour (with a stop here at I-Books), and an Action and Permaculture Encampment July 30th to August 9th.

Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) General Meeting

The local chapter of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) will hold a general meeting on April 27th at 7:30 PM. The meeting is open to anyone. Topics of discussion will include Mayday celebration and ongoing labor solidarity campaigns.

Farmworker Solidarity Film Screening / Bike Ride!

North Carolina has a very dense farmworker population: over 150,000 in this state alone. These workers, who are largely migrants from Central and South America, frequently live in extremely difficult circumstances and face multiple forms of exploitation. On July 29th, the Internationalist will host an event featuring to build awareness and concrete solidarity with the workers in our state whose faces we rarely see but whose efforts allow us to eat every day.
